Feature packed, awesome little unit
I have numerous Shelly devices, and for simple lighting control, you can’t go wrong with this module. Gen 4 is Matter enabled, and is easily added to various home automation platforms, including Apple Home. These things are tiny! They easily fit in a switch box, or in the box where the fixture mounts. You do need a neutral wire, so this may dictate where you mount it. The Shelly control app is quite good, and setup is easy. Amazing amount of power and functionality in this tiny package!

Incredible device!
This thing is amazing. I had seen Shelly products recommended before from smart home sources but I had a regular dumb light fixture I wanted to make “smart” so I purchased this.Installation is straight forward. It’s well labeled on the unit which wires go in which places. My houses older wiring has a mix of romex and I was able to use 12ga romex easily on the terminal inputs on the Shelly with no problems.After installing and turning the power back on it immediately was discoverable in Home Assistant. I also used Shellys iOS application and it was easy to set up there. There’s an incredible amount of different options for configuration or automation in Shellys app. You can set up time schedules or see activity log straight from the Shelly app, or even write scripts or set up WiFi, Bluetooth, and even advanced config like MQTT straight in the app.I think one of the most amazing features is that the device acts as a bluetooth repeater so any BLE sensors in range also get reported back to Home Assistant. This is a great addition to my home and let me remove a few previous ESPHome BLE repeaters I had set up just for that purpose.

Works great, lots of control choices, very small
The Shelly app is very easy to use and gives me a lot of customization.I set this up in a security lamp, with a Stealth 360 motion sensor (the best sensor you can buy) providing input to the Shelly. This gives me ultimate flexibility.1. App setup to turn the light on 30 minutes prior to local sunset and off at 2200. On again at 0515 when I walk the puppies, and off at 0630 when I go to work.2. Motion sensor is set up in “detached mode” (so it doesn’t directly toggle the relay). A rule is set up to turn the light on for 5 minutes when it triggers, and then return to the preexisting state (setting it up as a direct input would have caused the light to turn off once the motion ceased instead of stay on if it was in the defined light ON period).3. I set up a notification so any motion input causes a phone notification.This device is very small and I had no problems cramming it into the junction box. Even though it is in a metal box, it still has a strong WiFi signal 150 feet from my house.

Great, Small, Smart and what are you waiting for?
These take a little bit to figure out how to get wired in but when you get them in the box and they are right they are AMAZING. I love these things. I have a lot of IoT in my house and these have to be some of my favorites. I used these here to add to my flood lights around the house so when the garage door opens it turns on the front and back flood lights. Perfect for letting me know that someone is here OR lighting up the area when I come home at night.Once you figure out how to connect them they are actually pretty easy. I’m not electrician but it was a trick figuring out how to wire it in to a 2 way switch without losing the 2 way switch. They are super easy to connect to wifi and the app is really easy to use and understand. LOVE LOVE LOVE these…

The most versatile smart home device on the market.
This has to be the most versatile smart home device on the market. However, that versatility does come at a bit of a cost of complexity when installing it.Size will not be part of the complexity. This thing is tiny. Photos online don’t do it justice. I have included a photo of this Shelly 1 Mini next to a US quarter for reference. This will easily fit in any North American single gang wall box with room to spare. You will need the spare room as wiring is where the complexity arises.I docked a star because the instructions take a bit more thought than I’m used to when dealing with wired-in smart things. I hope you’re good at twisting wire nuts or have a variety pack of Wagos like I do, you’ll need them. Shelly products are global so verbiage in the instructions isn’t what you may expect in the US or Canada.The screw terminals are easy to tighten with a Phillips screwdriver and large enough for 12AWG wire. The SW terminal is there to keep a physical switch, but it does not need to be connected.This relay supports Bluetooth, WiFi, Matter, and Zigbee. The instructions to enable zigbee mode didn’t work for me, but setting it up on my IoT WiFi network was very easy on my smartphone. You do not need Shelly’s app to get this relay on your WiFi network. It hosts its own browser interface and you can copy/paste WiFi info and switch it to zigbee mode. I kept it in WiFi mode anyway. Adding this to my home assistant was effortless. I added the Shelly integration and it found the relay within seconds. If you do use this on WiFi make sure you disable its own default WiFi hotspot once you have it connected.I will definitely buy more of these going forward to make light fixtures smarter. Shelly does have an app, but I have not used it as it is not required. These are perfect for a cloud-free smarthome.

versatile and awesome
rock solid so far. Small, versatile, and easy to install. I’m using two of these as garage door openers, one as a gate opener, (the fact that it has a dry contact is super useful and can be used to retrofit all sorts of things). I plan to install several others for lights. You can spend a lot more money buying packaged solutions or you can put in just slightly more effort and spend a lot less money with Shellys. I was of course sold when I bought them but now I’m “really” sold.

Small and reliable. The integration with Home Assistant and support for Matter makes this easy to setup with any home automation solution. I love that it can work locally without internet out of the box.

Pequeño, potente, perfecto para automatizar luces.Lo utilizo con Zigbee (Matter es sobre Wifi, no sobre Threads), y funciona muy bien (a pesar de que hace un pequeño click cuando se activa). Soporta sólo 8A, no es para grandes electrodomésticos.Lo tengo funcionando con Home Assistant y sigo añadiendo

Ich nutze den Shelly-Schalter, um einige Lichtkreise smart zu machen – und bin absolut zufrieden. Der Einbau ist wirklich einfach, vor allem, weil das Modul so kompakt ist, dass es problemlos hinter den Wandschalter oder in eine normale Verteilerdose passt.Die Einrichtung über WLAN und Bluetooth funktioniert ohne Probleme. In der App war der Shelly sofort erkannt und einsatzbereit. Besonders gut gefällt mir, dass man keinen zusätzlichen Hub braucht – einfach ins WLAN einbinden und loslegen. Die Integration in Alexa lief ebenfalls reibungslos.Die Schaltleistung reicht völlig aus, und dank der potenzialfreien Kontakte lässt sich der Shelly sehr flexibel einsetzen – egal ob für Licht, Tor oder Heizungssteuerung. Die neuen Gen4-Funktionen (Matter-Unterstützung, Zigbee-Kompatibilität und schnellere Reaktionszeiten) sind ein echter Mehrwert.Fazit: Ein durchdachtes, leistungsstarkes Modul für alle, die ihr Zuhause smart machen wollen, ohne viel Aufwand.
