Why after pressing the power button to turn off G2 Max, it will turn on again after a few minutes?
Please turn off the “Power Saving Mode” by following the steps : Settings → Device Preferences → Energy → Power Saving Mode.
Why does the sound become quieter or disappear?
Please following the steps : Settings → Set up remote buttons → Volume control → Google TV. Press the volume button on the remote control again.

How to connect G2 Max to HDMI-ARC devices?
You can connect the HDMI cable from one end to the ARC HDMI input on your device, and the other end to the G2 Max tv box. If you want to connect the amplifier via TV, please refer the pdf manual for details.
How to access audio passthrough on G2 Max?
Settings → Devices Preferences → Display & Sound → Advanced sound settings → Select formats → Passthrough, and remember to change the audio settings in the playback apps.

G2 outperforms Firestick in every way imaginable.
I absolutely love this G2 streamer. It is such an upgrade from the Firestick that I have been using for years. So much faster, great built in storage capqcity. Live streams no longer lag or buffer due to it’s streaming capability and the option to create a larger buffer upfront. Picture and sound quality are both dramatically improved.I first tried the newer GX version but it would not work with my TV resoloution limitations (an older 70″ Samsung); so Swapped it for the Rock Tek G2 and everything took off, well, like a rocket! There are more expensive streamers out there and I’m sure they do a fine job. However for the prce point of this vs. the Firestick…..you would have to be crazy to not go with the G2.

“Great Streaming Quality with a Few Small Quirks”
The RockTek G2 delivers excellent 4K streaming with crisp picture quality and smooth performance. HDR10+ and Dolby Vision look fantastic, and the voice remote makes navigation really convenient. Apps load quickly, and the overall experience feels premium. The only downside is that setup took a little longer than expected, and the interface can lag occasionally. Still, it’s a strong streaming device with great features for the price.

Delivered in an opened box but everything seems to be functioning just fine. We reached out to the seller and they provided excellent customer service. We are very pleased with our purchase.The G2 has a fast processor and is loaded with a friendly UI.

Lots of Features and ports!
I’m still evaluating in a test environment to replace my current Fire TV 4k that of late has been locking up and failing. So far I’m very happy with the device. The features match the highly respected Nvidia Shield, but at a lower price point. It is rich in features/ports and memory! The setup is deep in many video and audio settings. I’m still making tweaks to optimize video and audio for my home theater, at this point I highly recommend this device for audio/videophiles. I’ll update my review as time goes by and I use it in my home theater.

Box was snappy and worked pretty well until right after my 1 year warranty and the ethernet port went out which is apparently a thing with the Rocktek boxes.

RockTek G2 Premium Google TV 4K UHD Streaming Player
The RockTek G2 is a solid streaming TV box; it offers almost everything a demanding user could want.Mine arrived already updated to Android 14 (June 2025).However, some limitations exist: apps like Fandango at Home and Movies Anywhere don’t support HDR, which is disappointing. There are also a few minor issues, such as occasional loss of sound control via HDMI CEC, lack of Dolby TrueHD support, and occasional input switching delays that cause the system to hang for a few seconds.Still, I believe most of these bugs will be addressed in future updates. Overall, the RockTek G2 is a good option, as long as you’re not comparing it directly to a more premium box like the Shield TV.
