Fantastic upgrade from an old thermostat
Great product. Glad I purchased it. I wish I had known there was another generation that has an additional sensor that you can use. I would have purchased that instead. This product is a major improvement for my home and works well with a brand new AC unit. I’m excited to see how my utility bills might improve and to have the ability to control the thermostat remotely while traveling.

It is easy to use
Overall I love this thermostat. It is black all the time until you walk in front of it and then it lights up with the temperature you have set rather than the temperature of the room. It’s okay, but I’d rather have the temp of the room on it. It is quite easy to use and I pretty much set the temp on my phone. It is very easy to use.

Buggy as hell – avoid this product
Save yourself a lot of money and aggravation – do NOT buy this product! I have had a smart home for a while, so when I got a new HVAC installed I naturally wanted to get a Google Nest to run it. Within the first two months it’s taken itself offline at least four times now. Multiple different service people confirm that the pro who installed it did so correctly, and the furnace itself is fine. When I looked up the issue – repeated delays in starting – it turns out that many other people have had the same issue. I just pulled it out and got a Honeywell. It’s outside the return window for the Nest, which is outrageous for something so expensive. I really regret trusting the Google brand.

Nice upgrade from generation 1 and 2.
With generation one and two loosing support, had to upgrade two units. Generation 4 was expensive and complicated, maybe just for me. Now have four that are on the same app and work great.

Didn’t include a heat link so I couldn’t connect to the boiler. My previous nest came with one in the box so thought this was a bit strange. Sending it back

The nest thermostat battery just kept dying. I even wired a power source for continuous charge to no avail. I bought a replacement battery off Amazon and it just didn’t work. I don’t recommend changing it yourself as it’s very easy to damage. After trying different things, I ended up purchasing this new base hoping it would work. After setting it up with the system details, it worked! Plug and play! Got the app working as well! What a relief! Highly recommend if your nest 3rd generation thermostat battery gives out.
