APC 600VA works very well at my house in a rural area
This APC 600VA battery backup works well at my house. I have two of these devices. I installed one at my house in rural Missouri, and I installed the second one at my sister’s house nearby. The electric service here is reliable, but the electric flickers a few times a day. In most cases, it’s just a short flicker. But sometimes the flicker is longer, and it was causing my computers to reboot. I installed this battery backup, plus the APC PowerChute app that works with it. I discovered that, in addition to the flicker, there is also electrical noise on my line. One or two times a day, I can hear the relay in the backup device switch over to battery for several seconds. With the app, I can see how many times it switched during the last few weeks. It shows how many times it switched for noise on the line (a few times a day), and how many times it switched because the utility power failed (none, so far, except my testing). The setup in my house involves three computers, two monitors, an ethernet switch, and a printer. They all benefit by the ‘surge protect’ feature, but they don’t all need the battery backup. So I have one computer, two monitors, and the ethernet switch on the ‘battery backup’ outlets. I have the other computers and the printer on the ‘surge protect’ outlets, but not on battery backup. The app shows that I’m using about 30 percent of the rated power through the APC device in normal operations (not on battery).I tested the battery duration by just unplugging the APC from the wall outlet. The computer and the two monitors and the ethernet switch remained on for at least 45 minutes, until I plugged the APC back into the wall.I have fiber internet service at my house. Unhappily for me, the internet modem-router enters the house in a different room from my computers. I have the modem-router on a separate battery backup, which is lot smaller than the APC backup in the computer room.

Purchased this to provide backup power to router and computer. It lasts longer than discribed, power was out for 30 minutes with no problems.

    Quality
I haven’t had a problem with it as of yet. I don’t recall the description saying that it was refurbished. I’m not too happy but I hope it works or my sugar gliders will die this winter if it stops working.
